Pregnancy is a time of profound change for a woman both in the body and the mind. We are adjusting to the physical changes associated with carrying a life inside of us and the emotional adjustments that come with preparing for motherhood. The practice of yoga poses and breathing exercises are very helpful in maintaining your health and well-being during this transitional time. The following aches, pains and annoyances are common for many women during pregnancy. However, regular yoga practice can help alleviate these symptoms so you can enjoy a healthy pregnancy. When you are working with yoga poses, make sure to listen to your body. Always move slowly with the breath, paying attention to how the pose feels for you. If something doesn’t feel right, then make adjustments to the pose or don’t do it at all. The following poses are intended to be used by women who are already participating in a prenatal yoga class as there are no directions given for these poses.
